    Default Rickenbacker gas again

    http://reno.craigslist.org/msg/1738802853.html

I can't seam to get rid of this gas I keep getting but the money it would take to get one would take for ever to save up too. So let me ask all you guitar people are there any Rickenbacker copy's? that are pretty good?

    Sell Plasma?

$50/week x 52 weeks in a year = $2600 (just don't forget to hold some back for taxes)

I have to agree- To me, it looks like something that went horribly wrong in the lab- A Rickenbacker 'studio' model perhaps?
The first real live Rick I saw was about 1966/67, it was a 360/12 with herringbone binding, a Fireglo- A friend got it new- I thought it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. 35yrs later I was able to buy one- and what a disappointment- so hard to play, so over-engineered, I tried to love it, but sold it about 8mo. later.
But, If I was gonna buy one, give me Natural or Fireglo

Look for images on the internet, use them in your spank bank while saving up the cash for what you want. Buying "the cheapest one you could find" will ultimately be a disappointment once the honeymoon wears off and you start to notice the flaws.

Indie guitars make very nice rickenbacker copies. Dunno about the availability though...

E: might be discontinued 'cause can't find them from their website. But Indie makes so much other stuff too you also can't find from their website

    KOOLEST bass ever!

Think I saw a pretty inexpensive Ric on TGP....

Gibson KS 336, LP Standard, Special and Customs
Bogner, Orange, Tech 21 and Fender amps
    Celestion speakers
Duncan, Bare Knuckle, WCR and Gibson pups
    Too many pedals....

Only a Ric feels and plays like a Ric. Depending on your perspective, this is either a positive or a negative.

Personally, I love the way Rics sound. There's nothing else like that tone. I don't really care for how they (the 12 strings in particular) play. The fingerboards are narrow and cramped, and it makes my hands hurt after a very short time.

It's sort of a necessary evil or rite of passage - to get that ric sound, you must suffer the wrath of playing one...

EDIT: Those basses are a different story. I've never played one but I imagine board width is not an issue..

Love the basses but I've never bought into the whole Ric guitar thing. I don't like how they look, I don't like how they sound and I really don't like the price tag. Having said that, I seem to remember seeing half-decent looking copies around somewhere but I can't remember who made them. I'll see if I can find something. Coulda been Agile....?
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

Well I have to say that Rickenbackers (basses and guitars) they have a really unque tone/sound that you can only get from a Rickenbacker. I think you can come close with amp mods and effects but not exactly it. Me personally I have always been a fan since the first Beatles, Yes, Rush album I first listen too. They do have a pretty heavy price tag but I thinkm its worth it.
