Three weeks ago I went to work for US Census. My wife lost her job in late December and with out that income we are really hurting for $$. I go to work for the Census to make some quick cash ( $15 an hour + $.50 a mile ) so my first pay check was due last week. Pay day comes and the electronic transfer don't happen. Everybody else in my crew got paid so I start calling turns out the processor plugged in my bank routing # twice both as the rout # and as my account #. No problem just re-issue right ?? WRONG after 5 days still no pay and the Feds say they gotta find the money!! It was NOT my error they KNOW what happened and still won't pay me the $550 or so they owe me and I have bills due.

I know exactly what this feels like. I'm very sorry man. a while back I was supposed to get a pretty big check from work, and they only gave me about $100. I had bills, and plans. I hope you get your hard earned cash soon.

Everyone thinks the govt is on their side and working for them till the day they wake up and smell the coffee.....or are forced to deal with them beyond being F'ed out of tax money.

The attitude is what is maddening for me. When my wife lost her job we lost over $5500 a month in income. My wife did find work and we should survive if we can get through the short term till her income kicks in in a few weeks. However that is a couple of weeks out and I was counting on that $ to make the bills this month. They can give a rip about my situation even though they KNOW and can document it was not my error. Frankly this is downright frightening.

Sorry to hear about that! How lost could the money really be? I certainly understand the bind you're in .... and the frustration and inconvenience. I believe the resolution will come soon.

FINALLY got to some one who would help after 6 DAYS!! She fixed the problem (which had been ignored) with the double Rout # so tomorrows payday (hopefully) will not go to never never land like the last one did. However the "process" for re-issuing the lost funds will take 5-10 DAYS ! AUGG I HATE dealing with the GOVERNMENT!!

It's funny how they'll cash YOUR check within 3 days of receiving it though. Funny how that works. Apparently, their accounts receivable is 100% efficient, while their accounts payable has to go through a "process."

Fat chance! I worked for a company years ago that switched the payday from Thursday to Friday because when the guys got their checks on Thursday they'd go out and blow them Thursday night at the bars and were useless on Friday if they even showed up at all.

With all the freakin' people out there looking for a handout do you honestly think that system would work?
