...and I'm really loving it.
Tried it with 3x 250k pots and wasn't too thrilled - I dunno, just felt like it was missing some "life". Then put 500k's and it really woke them up.
The neck pickup is perfect, and is exactly what I wanted. More juice than a singlecoil, but not as fat as a normal humbucker. Nicely bright, yet still Bluesy. I really found the perfect neck pickup with those 500k controls.
The bridge pickup really suprised me too. To me this one feels a bit like a mix between a '59 model and the Custom (SH-5). It has the same 3D-presence of the custom but is a little more pleasant on the treble.
The bass strings sound perfect but at times it can get a little brightish, especially on the high strings. I guess I wish it was a tad less bright /a tad warmer overall.
Question: I tried the hotrails bridge which was too hot for me, and the cool rails bridge which was kinda "cold" or "bland", for lack of a better descripiton. I didn't care too much for either of the bridge rails.
So, which model would get me the sound of the "little '59" bridge pickup but with a tad less highs and a touch warmer?
Little screaming Demon?
JBJr?
Or the custom shop little PG?
Btw: guitar is your basic Strat, Alder body, vintage-style bridge, Maple/RW neck
