grounding!
i've just wired up a 3 hum sg to this diagram
i've grounded all the pickups to their corresponding pots, grounded the bridge post wire and the switch to the bridge pickup volume pot, and grounded the jack to the neck tone pot. i've also got a ground wire from the bridge vol - neck vol - neck tone. im either gettin a lot of noise or nothing at all, im guessing its to do with the grounding, what am i doing wrong?
our first drummer died in a bizzare gardening accident!

Pics would definitely help. Sounds like all the ground connections are connected to each other some way and they are grounded connection on the jack. Could you also describe your noise problem more?
Does it happen in all positions?
Does it happen when you touch metal hardware on your guitar?

yes it happens in all positions and gets worse when i touch the hardware.

Since it get worse when you touch the hardware it should be grounding related. Could you post some pics. Since the diagram seems to be correct there might be something in the implementation.

i can't get a pic right now im in work.
i've done all the wiring exactly as the diagram shows, although it doesn't show where all the ground wires go.
i've just noticed now that at the bottom it says all the ground wires should get solderd together. is that what im doing wrong? so should i solder all the ground wires together and ground them on the bridge vol pot?

Check the solder joint to the jack ground terminal. If that's faulty, then your whole guitar isn't grounded hence lots of hum and no sound from pups.

i give up! i've tried 3 times with different grounding points and still nothing. i've even tried the other diagram with 3 volumes!! still no sound. i dont understand i've never had problems with wiring before, ever, i just got angry and ripped all the wires out and broke my push pull pot i've been waiting two weeks for! what am i missing?

this reminds me on a similar issue i once had.
i turned out to be a pot, which obviously died during soldering.
(accidentally identified, by pulling the pot axis while rotating)
when you start from the scratch, i suggest to build up the schematic modular.
test every path you have done, before adding another
