Looking at this diagram for series/split/parallel with phase reversal:

It appears to me that when the phase switch is flipped, the bare wire, which is the pickup baseplate/shield, will be connected to hot.

Would this be a bad thing, and if I was doing this wiring mod, should I connect the bare wire directly to ground rather than to the switch?
