I'm surprised that I'm really liking the Emi Swamp Thang! OTOH, I'm really not liking the Tonker. I wished they would've done the Cannabis Rex inj athat 15 speaker shootout. I must have lisetned to that thing 50 times already trying to figure out which speaker sounds best.

From that clip I didn't really like the G12K. That said, it's hard to judge a speaker based purely on a clip. Wish I had more money....

As per usual, I'm drawn to the sound of the G12M and the V30, however I listened to the G12H a lot more carefully than I normally do and I can definitely hear the low midrange fullness you guys are talking about. Probably because the clip isn't so gain heavy that it masks the tone of the speaker...

I think I'm going to go with a set of those first. I think they'd be really good with my Orange, and I think they'd sound good combined with a V30 loaded cab.

Why does the T75 always just sound...wrong?

Have you thought about any of the Eminence redcoat speakers? The frequency range is quite broad which I know is what I like from my Dual Rec.

'cause it's got a gap in the midrange.

I never understood why Marshall uses these as their default speaker...

Yes, but I prefer to talk in terms of Celestions as it's less confusing.

I got mine for something like 280, in good shape. Some deals to be had out there.

I hear ya. I agree, too, I don't really like it on that amp either.

I feel that it matches pretty well with the roadster for what I do, though. Has some V30 characteristics to it, but takes it in a different direction.

I recently tried an MC-90 (Classic Lead) and it really filled out the low midrange and fattened the sound up. Only problem is the speaker is too dark on it's own and guts the Recto of it's punch.
In that case, use 2 vintage 30s and 2 C90s...

I stick with 4 vintage 30s and 4 G12H-80s (similar to Classic Lead 80s) and dial to taste with my stereo power amp.

Two year old thread is two years old.

I bought a Recto cab. It was a great match for the Dual Recto.

Bringing this back because I have a new fully modded Dual Rectifier that is amazing.
I like it with all my cabs, V30s, K100s, Greenbacks, Lynchbacks and soon buying Creambacks.

I hated the Eminence Governors. I think the V30s sound and feel way better.

I'm running a Dual Rec Tremoverb right now with 2 Emi Governors and 2 Emi Man-O-Wars. The Governors are like fatter V30s with no upper mid spike, and the MOW's are like fatter, louder G12T75s. That combo, as sosomething says, is "The Business".

You'll get better results if you start your own thread instead of necro bumping old ass threads, without a doubt.

Weber’s ALNICO speakers with light doping
Try pairing a Blue Dog with a Silver Bell in a 2x12 combination. Great low end from the Silver Bell, while retaining clarity and definition from the Blue Dog.

    12” Blue dog
    Classic AlNiCo Vox Tone
    12", 40oz AlNiCo magnet, 15, 30, 50, 75, or 100 watts, 1-3/4" voice coil, ribbed cone
    12” Silver bell
    Classic AlNiCo Marshall Tone
    12", 40oz AlNiCo magnet, 15, 30, 50, 75, or 100 watts, 1-3/4" voice coil, ribbed cone.
Big low end, compressed high volume rock and roll tone, reminiscent of the classic Marshall stack tone.
