Lemme get some prayers guys.
Here the past few months, things have gotten absolutely terrible at Mercy. Paychecks bouncing, not getting paid for overtime, hours getting cut. Last week a lot of the crews got sent to Brownsville, dispatched by the Texas Guard. I picked up 117 hours Monday-Saturday that they were gone. Now I'm being told that I did it without authorization and they're refusing to pay my overtime.
Starting Monday, my hours are being cut to about 20 hours a week. Now, I can pick up a few extra shifts, and ride the clock here and there to try and get 40, but I can't live off of that.
My paycheck bounced on the first. That was my 4th paycheck to bounce, and all I've been told is "there's nothing I can do about it" since the owners are in Missouri. So I have to keep running the same check until it'll clear, or take it to a pawnshop or some gas station and take the small hit, and let them take the missing funds up with the company.
UTMB is hiring for EMT's and Patient Care Techs for their section, Correctional Managed Care. It's the same thing I do all day long, except dealing with inmates (been there, done that anyway). I'm crying and praying I get this job.
It starts at 36 a year, which is a lot of money in my little town, especially for a young family. Full benefits, retirement, 12 hour shifts 5 days a week (60 hours, that's easy), and I never have to worry about my paychecks bouncing.
There are only two positions open that need to be filled. My only hope is a former coworker who works for CMC now, and my mother being the CID Nurse for UTMB at the Estelle and Diagnostic Units.
So, everyone wish me luck. My fingers and toes are crossed.
