    Default The bond between fisherman.

It's funny to think about the bond between fisherman. You spend countless hours, on a boat, doing pretty much nothing. You end up talking a lot.
You share stories of family, friends, life experiences, and all the little wierd things you normally wouldn't tell people, even the really bad things you're not proud of.
This in itself, will bring two people together on a level, other folks could only dream of.
It's an event that can be life changing, and you will make a lifelong, loyal friend.
Some of the best times I can remember are being on the lake fishing, talking, and arguing over what lure to use, in this spot.
Life seems to slow down, you forget the real world for a little while. It's a beutifull thing!

My fishing partner and close friend, Josh Dykes, was killed in a car accident last night.
He left behind a Wife and a 4 month old son.

    We'll miss you buddy....

Sorry for the rant, I just had to get it out.

    I'm going fishin'.

That's so sad to hear I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. (Prayers being sent your way). But you're right. I've spent countless hours with my dad and his buddies fishing. He and his friends go back almost 40 years. It's amazing how much fun you can have with a rod in hand, sitting on the pier or boat, just enjoying the scenery and the breeze. I'd sure love to be out fishing somewhere right now. Instead I'm stuck behind a computer.

Sorry for your loss. I think it's more about comraderie and the time you spend, the stories and times you come home with than what's mounted over your fireplace. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

We rarely went together, but some of my best memories are fishing with my father. Just something about spending that time together.

Sorry for your loss. I too, enjoy fishing with my Dad. Hell I enjoy fishing in general. I was recently thinking about the little joys that fishing with friends and family brings, and the friendships you build while doing it. Prayers sent your way bro.

Wow - this impacts me deeply for some reason.

Likely because fishing is my main hobby, and I have a son on the way. Hits home that it could be any of us.

Listening to the song you posted and taking a minute of silence for your friend.

Sorry for your loss bro! Fishing buddies & other fisherman you work with really get close to you. Working on a fishing boat you spend weeks together, sometimes months on the bigger longliners. seeing each other at the seemingly happiest moments & the most dissapointed, sharing things you wouldn't share with you family, it's a true bond! I'm real sorry bro!

Sorry if I'm a little out of it right now. BUt, Thank you guys for the words.
I'm on day #3 of drinking. The wake was today ( or yesterday, whatever today is, now,), I didn't go. I don't think I'll make the service either. don't think I belong there with his family and all.
I'm just gonna sit and get wasted untill it's done. Can't think of anything else to do, to pass the time.
I tried jammin' some, but I just get all.... sappy. Even music doesn't really matter right now. Hell, I just want to throw my rig out the window, to be honest.
I think I'm just gonna take a few days and see what comes into focus, about life.
I'm so confuzed. Nothing makes sense right now. It's kinda like waching Superman die, You never see it coming, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Again, sorry for the rant, but ithas to go somewhere.

My condolences on your loss, bro. Being alone is not necessarily a good thing.

His family must know you were close to him. It might do all of you good to see each other. Ask a friend to drive you over.

Prayers for peace and comfort for you and his family.
