    Default Tele esquire wiring

    i have a strat project that is going through several versions... one is 1 single P-90 in the bridge and a modification of the esquire wiring.

    1) the esquire wiring it is a 3way tele switch and switch up is the tone pot, switch in the middle is the set of resistors and switch down is no tone pot at all... correct?

    2) instead of the set of resistors can i replace it with another tone pot?

    3) would i hook the second tone pot like the first one?

    thanks,
    edm

    Eric, I can't get too technical but I do know that Esquire wiring is (and bump ya for those who know what they are talking about)
    -tone as if pot is all the way down (bassy), in an early attempt to emulate bass
    -tone pot functions
    -tone pot bypassed (it's subtle but it's great to heat things up for solos).

    And he gets it! The original intent was to have the tone control set at some position other than 10, and be able to bypass it, the RC matrix rolled off a bit of low end as well in addition to the highs as I remember ...wasn't that great of a idea ... but the original broadcaster was set up with bridge,neck, and neck with a big cap to ground for that faux bass sound (remember the P bass hadn't been invented yet ... there was no electric bass yet).
    Yeah, you would hook up the second tone pot the way the first was done ...
    ::::To sound reinforcement engineer::::
    ... What? ... ::::snicker:::: ...Yes, ... Right, ...
    Could we please have everything louder than everything else ? ...
