If they would have come out at the same time as Ratt, Dokken and Quiet Riot they would have been bigger. Unfortunately they came late to the party and were considered just another LA hair band.
I like their first two albums and I would have liked them to continue building a style around their first album, but I think they fell into the same trap as a lot of other bands and figured they needed to have ballads in order to be marketable. I think writing ballads and chasing radio airplay made their work inconsistent and hurt their credibility.

I love LA Guns. They were the real deal, that first album line-up never put out a bad album. Most of the guys were super cool too. Opened for them once in the heyday, it was complete and utter mayhem, a legendary night!

Love them. sooo sleazy.
Traci Guns is the actual guns name in guns and roses, in case someone didn't know.
SEX ACTION........

The trivia doesn't end there either. Phil Lewis is from England where he was in a band called Girl, before joining LA Guns. Girl is where Deff Leppard recruited Phil Collen. After Girl Phil Lewis went on to become the lead singer for Bernie Torme's band. Bernie Torme had earlier played with Ozzy Osbourne for some of the tour dates after Randy Rhodes death and he was also one of the guitarists for Ian Gillan of Deep Purple's solo band called Gillan. Bernie Torme was later replaced by Janick Gers who is now in Iron Maiden. There are even more odd connections.

I dig/dug them.

they did a show here in saint george at a local bar... I was a month or so ago. I just remember there was a poster where I work and i was thinking "who are THESE guys?"

Aint no pro but I know what I like....
Guitar to sound output:
Hamer, Dean, or Various, Levy's straps, Dunlop straplock/picks, Daddarrio strings 10-46, Duncan, Dimarzio, Mogami, Monster, MojoDrive pedal on occasion, Marshall, Crate, Vox, Mesa Boogie, Black Shadow Celestions, Eminence,..

I always knew this. Whats funny tho is on VH1s Behind the music, they talk about the formation of GNR and the bands the guys came from, but make NO mention of the the Traci Guns involvement.. Sad, because if they did, it would throw more attention his way.. I was never a big LA guns fan, but do like Traci cuz he is the real deal.
I liked Brides of Destruction too.. Ive always been a Sixx fan. Had a wicked JD habit back in the day that started cuz of him haha. But anyhow, I like many of the side bands Nikki has been involved in, but they dont stay intact
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I think you have to have a little love for LA Guns. If nothing else, they helped to spawn one of the greatest bands of the late 80's and 90's - Guns N Roses.
I liked the Cocked and Loaded album, and still rock a tune or two from it now and then.....mostly "Never Enough" and "Balad of Jane", but once in a while I'll spin the whole thing.
So, a little love.

i like these guys a lot. only wish i could have seen them back in the day. i have their first 3 releases. great, sleazy, sunset strip metal. tracii is a great guitarist, and phil has a lot of character to his voice. one of those singers you recognize immediately. i agree with the statement about if they would have come out earlier they would have been bigger.
