This is a music board, not a political/social issue board. There are plenty of forums where you can discuss anything like that. If the owners of the business that run this site at their expense for us don't want us to discuss certain topics because of the direction they've gone in the past, I respect that.

I really hope that you stick around and we can get to know you, despite my view that your topic may not have been appropriate, I also don't disagree with what the post said. That being said, attacking the admin/mods with 173 posts is kind of in bad taste. Like I said though, I hope you hang out so I/we can get to know you more.
    Oh no.....

Lettuce all behave, my hermanos. For it may be a tedious job for some, we can pick and clean the things we choose to talk about. It is really a matter of tomatoes vs. tomatoes. Although some may think they are above the tireless scrutiny of Seymour's white-collared and plaid-tied oppression, we must remain juxtaposed to the ideal of selling ourselves short and forever realize that one mans trash is another mans thread, for without the later, what good, really, is the former.

A good closable thread now that the answer has been given to the question. Should have happened in PM's though. Shows how nice a fella Simon is as he could have been more heavy handed after the thread was posted.

Think about it this way for a moment.. I walk into your house, I poo on your counter. I then argue that you cant stop me at all because that would make you a ham-fisted authoritarian trying to take away my right to a natural human act.

there was a time when we openly discussed religious and political topics

after a while, it just didn't work any longer

this is still one of the more tolerant forums

for the OP: FYI, there are other forums where complaining about a deleted thread is not tolerated, and would earn you an immediate suspension.

By avoiding topics like these the aim is to keep this place fun and friendly. There are a million other sites you can debate an argue whatever topics you want. While I personally am always up for a good discussion on current issues, the whackjobs from either side will invariably come out and ruin it anyway.

The policy is for the best for this arena.

I intended to just let this thing die but some folks feel they have to chime in with trite meaningless advice for me about the site.

You all missed the point and probably never read the thread that was originally deleted anyhow.

I didn't think that the thread in question violated the "political" taboo and was genuinely surprised and a little miffed when it was deleted. So I thought it might be good to discuss what constitutes a "political" topic. In public, not as a PM to the Mod because it might be interesting and generally helpful. Boy, was I wrong.

I was hoping to get more than "whatever a mod thinks it is" but that's all we get. So be it. Whatever. It is what it is. Insert any other cliche you want at this point.

One more, "Dude..." message and I'll puke. I know what you're saying already. NO, really???!!! Doh!

I wasn't trying to force something not allowed here, I was trying to find out what others thought about what constitutes a "political" discussion and what the general population thinks.

    I'm done with this.
It is possible that mankind is on the threshold of a golden age; but, if so, it will be necessary first to slay the dragon that guards the door, and this dragon is religion.
