Default The awesome RAW sound of Grand Funk Railroad

This is the year 1970 people. I love this band to pieces. Mark Farner was my influence to play lead guitar. I also love his vocals.

That little black haired chick at the beggining of the second video looked good enough for me to do something to.

That is a fact! Also GFRR does the best Feelin' Alright cover IMO.

    Funny story:
When Grand Funk did the photo shoot for the album cover above, Mark and Mel took a break and walked into the cave. From the other side a family was walking through with the kids ahead of the parents. The kids walked up on Mark and Mel and about shi# their pants! They ran away screaming for their parents!

Dan,You know how I feel about those guys. I was accidently lucky enough to catch those guys from the very beginning! Mark Farner indeed has one of the best voices in R&R history!!! I loved them even before I knew they were from Flint Mi.

Not to mention this one; it's become a bar band classic. You pull this one off, it's tips, girls and drinks all night. (You fellas can have the last two; I gotta save up for dental work.)

    Randy,
Did you know most people (in the day) thought GFRR was an all African American Band when they first heard them?
The 2nd album GRAND FUNK (red album) kind of tricked me too, as it was the first time I heard them. I totally missed the first album On Time until later on.

There is NO REASON why these guys are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Yes, there is... the R&RHOF isn't artist-driven, it's motivated by tourism.

    That is true!

I just sent an email to the staff at R&R Hall of Fame asking why GFRR have not been inducted.

If anyone wants to join me, here is the email address: staff@rockhall.org.

You do have a valid point there, Reggie. It sure does suck though.

Cool vids.....My band opened for Mark Farner two weeks ago at a local festival. He's one heck of an entertainer! I wish I could say he was a nicer guy. We got booted from the backstage area immediately and my wife, who shoots for an online publication, was not allowed to photograph him.......still got that rockstar attitude!
Only you can decide what "good" sounds like!
