Default Which Duncan Pickup with the Most rolled off smoothest Highs?

I'm still having a tough time with the bridge of this *&^%$#%^ Walnut guitar.
I'm about *thiiiis close from scrapping it, except its a real good player and Ive got the neck tone manageable . Its just so gawb dab bright and brittle.
I did try the PatB-3 everyone recommended, but it wasn't much better than a PAF or nuthin'.
Do you think I should try the PatB-3 with a 250K pot, or try a different Duncan?
I know about cranking down the pickup, but I get the feeling I'm neutering the pickup if I crank it down so low that it has the effect of quashing the treble.
Should I just turn the tone knob down and quit griping?
Help me out. If you can't stand ME, do it for the guitars sake.

Definitely try 250K pots, a magnet swap is another consideration if the pot swapping doesn't work out.

Next step up would be the PATB-1b or the CC. That is, if a 250k tone pot doesn't tame it some.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

Or maybe a 59n in the bridge? Neck pickups are usually darker, aren't they?

Are you swapping magnets? To my ears the brighest magents are A5's and ceramics. You should be trying A8, A4, A2, and UOA5, which will take off the worst of the treble and add mids. Roughcast magnets are a little warmer than polished ones and don't have a harsh, brittle high end. Some of us (Zhang, LtKojak, and myself) use 250K's on about all of our bridge PU's, to help tame the treble.

I have a walnut guitar myself, and in the bridge I put a roughcast A5 and 250K's. It's got a nice warm crunch to it now. The solutions are right in front of you and you keep buying more PU's and expecting miracles. Your problem is bright magnets & pots. Change them out.

It may be that Walnut is just an idiosyncratic wood that you don't really like. I have had a few guitars where no matter what pickup I try, I am never totally happy with. Eventually I sold off those bodies and bought a new body that I knew I already liked.

If the pot swap doesn't work, I'll trade you a Tone Zone (which will cure your problem) for that PATB-3.

A better idea would be to utizile certain body woods. For example, my maple guitar is now my heavy-stuff guitar because of the tight lows. Sounds absolutely amazing under high gain, but anything else is unsatisfactory. If you can't find a use, then I would sell it.
