    Default Tonal Difference

    How much tonal difference between maple neck and maple neck capped with rosewood.. Say for guitars and bass......

    Maple tends to be snappier sounding and rosewood is warmer sounding to my ears..The comparisons would have to be the different necks but on the same guitar body,pickups,and everything else the same except the necks for comparisons..

    All other things being equal, I would expect a varnished, one-piece maple neck to give a slightly more "wiry" sound than a maple neck with an applied rosewood fingerboard.

    A little bit snappier sound with all maple. Slight more warmth/smoothness with rosewood.
