    is there any form of tubescreamer that sounds like a good vintage cranked bassman?

    no, not really. all tube screamers kinda have the same tone and it doesnt sound like a bassman to me.
    i cant really think of a pedal that does a good bassman type tone

    Why not just get a Bassman? they're pretty cheap on eBay and then you'll be totally awesome like me.

    I can only assume he wants the tone of the highly coveted tweed Bassman with the 5F6-A circuit, which is not cheap like the black/silver faces, nor do they even remotely sound alike (ask Lew ).

    well, i was considering a 59 reissue bassman, but $100 and $500 (ebay) is a big difference
