Default About the SH-15 Alt. 8

I've read that the SH-15 has full tonal capabilities: full bass ends, exposed upper mids, and a not-too-bright-but-still-cuts-through high end. That's exactly what I want for my bridge pup. However, I've also read its hard to get it out of its mid range tone and doesn't get enough output for doing things like tapping and harmonics. Is this true? Should I look into another bridge pup? If so, are there any other with the tonal properties latterly listed?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm looking to put it in an SG

I think it's very similar to a DD/JB with an A8, in which case the "full bass, exposed upper mids, and a not-too-bright-but-still-cuts-through high end" description is about right. The massive midrange that's hard to get rid of thing is true, the harmonics thing is not, tapping, eh, I don't know because I don't do it, but there's no way if it has a deficiency that it's related to not having enough output. Matter of fact, I haven't found a deficiency for what I use it for.

Its got plenty of output...and big low-mids...

I didn't care for it...A8 magnets have this midrange voicing you either love or hate...I didn't care for it at all...

Dude, you use a Line 6 amp... The amount of gain you have on reserve better be enough to make ANY pickup able to use tapping... What kind of question is that???

A SG might be the right home for a Alt8. I did not find the right guitar, but when swapping around with amp and pedals i found i works great with a small cheap transitor amp - it makes a good body of sound though.
