Default Ok, the deal with the JB LP...

Did Gibson ever think about how many of these would sell?

It has a suggested retail of over $1000 and 99% of Jonas Brothers Fans are preteen girls who can't play guitar.

I swear, I love Gibson's guitars, but the company gets stupider and stupider every day.

Even if it was a $300 Epi I still wouldn't buy it.

Exactly the first thing I thought of. I see them maybe selling a few to spoilt kids with rich parents who want it to bash about on and then forget about but I really don't see them selling many at all. Marketing a guitar that costs over a grand to that demographic is just plain nuts to me.
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

For $300, I would. 24.75" scale, mahogany body, ebony board, P-90's. The specs on the guitar are very attractive; the inflated price as a signature model isn't.

I'd just take the pick guard off and get one of these:

True, but it's only 300 being made. They'll sell them out in one day.

anything you can't do on a Les Paul is because you haven't practiced enough or you don't rock hard enough.

I could sell, and get some nice returns to Gibson.

Yet, do they really account for the loss of prestige? I mean, continuing with these kinda practices, could lose them their "real" customers, who are into Gibson's inventions made like 50 years ago. It could very well be that if Gibson were to continue like this, in ten years time, todays "Gibson" customers would go for PRS or Hamer USA.

    No?

When I see the words JB Les Paul I think of Mr Beck not the gay triplets.

PRS, Hamer and Anderson are already taking the pro's from Gibson. You hardly ever see a session guy with Gibson, and if you do I'll bet it's vintage. Gibson lost the plot years ago and that is why they are in such deep trouble.

but if it's a girl who really does play guitar then chances are she'd see right through this terrible thing like the rest of us. they'll sell a few, but it definitely looks like a lose / lose guitar to me.

When I saw this thread title I thought Gibson was putting out a model with stock JB's neck & bridge.

Seriously, though, I think they're just trying to drive interest in the brand among new demographics. They put out this guitar, announce it heavily among -- I don't know -- teenage girls or whoever cares about the Jonas Brothers, get their attention, they look it up, and (oh no!) they're pricey and were sold out weeks ago, but (hey!) look at all these other guitars Gibson makes! Look at these Epiphones that are less expensive! I could get one of those with my babysitting money!

It's… just… a guitar. Nothing to get your bra straps twisted about.

NO! You can't be.... serious? It's not just a guitar.... it's a metaphor for so many different things that are wrong with society. Thanks to that abomination we should all burn our eyes out and pray to the heavens for mercy.

So yeah, it's just a guitar.

Gibson has endorsed these little fellas for a while now... It was just a matter of time b4 they got their sig model.... Personally I'd rock it if it didn't have the stupid logo on it! Looks like a great guitar otherwise!

I saw them a year or so doing the super bowl half time show and the funniest thing is when one of them fakes a solo... There's clearly a pro in the background in tier backing band hitting all the licks and "non-cowboy chord/power chord" parts... Craziness... I think that guy should get a sig model!

It amazes me what people will do to destroy an artform
