    Default Double-bound Tele

A while back I asked about suggestions for my next project. One of the big suggestions was an Albert Collins Tele:

So... I'm hunting around and found this at Rondo...

Not exact, but close... and it got me thinking about another project... hmmm.....

The binding sort of gets lost in the blond on that Rondo one.

In general though, double-bound Teles are the schizz. I have a single-bound goldtop PT; single-bound is good, but double-bound is better. The Squier CV Custom is a great deal in a double-bound, but it's sunbusrt, not natural ash.

You wanna the slickest bound Tele in the whole world ever?

What pickups are you considering? I would really consider a Duncan Firebird & a Jerry Donahue! Awesome combination!

The picture made me gasp. It's a beautiful guitar for sure - but the guy who took the picture knew what he is doing.

No idea on hardware or electronics... just throwing an idea out... Just happened to notice the Rondo axe... I don't even know if the neck pocket would be correct...

SX neck pockets ARE NOT standard Fender spec / dimensions.

Truth...HOWEVER, I recently begged a tech to give it a shot and he shimmied a Squier Protone Stratocaster neck into an SX Telecaster body. The guitar sounds better and feels better than either it's respective parents, by the way.

So, it is do-able...but maybe that's because the Protone neck is foreign as well...

AND, it's so do-able that I'm probably going to do it again! Crap, you find a good neck and the body doesn't much matter, methinks.

Teles don't usually catch my eye but that one is very nice.

I can't imagine how Rondo can sell a guitar that decent for $110.

Unless a Chinese 12 yr. old built it for $50.

Joe, are you talking about the guitar in the picture or the link?

    $50? Likely $15.

Any idea about the GFS Teles? They have a bunch of bound teles that sell for $200 or less that could be a good platform for a project.

This is a double bound. Its wasted on the Rondo.I think a blackguard would look better too.

I'd love me a double bound tele. They're thicker than normal teles, right?

    Not by definition.

You can put binding on practically anything.

And yes, the roundover is sharper, generally, with a bound tele. Closer to a right angle because of the nature of the binding process.

    Gawddamn...
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.
