Who's getting a 1911 this year?
BTW, who makes a reliable, reasonably priced (sub $800) 1911?

Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

I rreally want something that's close to the original GI model. Nothing fancy, nothing intricate. Just a basic, blued/parkerized 1911 that'll put steel on target every time.

I need to stop putting it off and finally get one. I'll probably pick up a Kimber Warrior or Springfield TRP.
For inexpensive 1911's, I hear great things about Springfield:

This one is all SS though, maybe not what you are looking for exactly. Much better sights than a GI model though. They also make less expensive Mil-Spec and GI models which are supposedly great for the money.

You might like this then....Probably a little cheaper at a shop.

Springfield? Hadn't thought of them. I do like the work they did on my SOCOM. What do you guys think of the Para Ordenance versions?

That is pretty bad -ass, Ace. Need to look at one of those.

If I had unlimited money, I'd buy the Colt 100th Ann. 1911 and the Smith & Wesson 75th Ann. 357 Magnum. Beautiful guns.
I already have a Colt Combat Commander 1911, which I love, but if I get another 1911 it's definitely going to be a Kimber.......either the Eclipse Target or Custom II Target.
Springfield and the cheapest Kimbers are the best of the moderately priced 1911's. I didn't realize Para Ordnance was still around. The hi cap magazine bans ruined their company because hi cap was their primary selling point.

75th Ann. .357 Magnum

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between the 1911 variants out there? They all use the same design, so I'm assuming it comes down to tolerances and materials, right?

BTW, didn't realize Kimber made moderately priced 1911's. I just assumed they were all high-zoot.

I never fly because the Lord said: "Low, and I will be with thee."

I knew the 100th Anniversary 1911 was expensive, but I had no idea how expensive.....that's why I said "unlimited money."
Someone out there has unlimited funds!

Real colt or screw it!
Although Springfield did do some 1911 govt. work when Colt was on hiatus.....
I'm holding out for next year:

The new Remingtons are very nice. My buddy Tommy and my Dad both have one. They cost about 800 too. Kimber Custom IIs are right around 800-900 around here.
You'll use it, boy, and as long as you hate using it, you will use it more wisely than most men would. Wait. If ever you don't hate it any longer, then will be the time to throw it as far as you can and run the other way.”

Don't need a new 1911. Got's an unfired Series 70 in the box.![]()
