This weeks installment of insightful social sub-groups on the forum: Who out there has cheated? How often? Why? Does it bother you afterwards? What have the repercussions been, if any?

Please specify the nature of the transgression: Fooled around on on girlfriend in non-specified relationship, fooled around on girlfriend in clearly monogamous relationship, fooled around on wife. Maybe some others...wife is ok with it on a business trip deals or whatever.

I suspect there won't be much on this until Sunday, as all the playa's are in the game tonight.

Never cheated on an old lady, but have been with some "taken" chicks......... looking back it wasn't anything special and usually way more trouble than any strung out stripper would have been.

I have not, and will not cheat. I couldn't live with myself. Plenty of opportunities have arisen, but I know what it feels like to be cheated on, and I wouldn't wish that hell on anyone.

If you want to screw other people, then stay single. I always hear stories why people have gone this route, but I don't give a damn. "It just happened", or my favorite, "It was an accident". WTFever.

I did once. To start.. I have a bad history of being cheated on. I don't know what it is but my first three girlfriends all cheated on me, leaving me with terrible self esteem and mistrust of women that only started to clear up 3-4 years ago.

As I said, I cheated once, on the 4th girlfriend (the one who incidentally proved to me that I was worth it and that women can be trusted and loving.. sad that I actually needed that proven to me at one point) Once and I'm not proud of it. It was about 8 or so months into a long distance relationship and I drunkly and stupidly made out with a friend of mine. The very next day I felt so guilty that I went and told my girlfriend, out of respect for her and for us. I realised above all else that I really did love this girl and that I had stupidly jeopardised the relationship for nothing. From that day on I didn't even think of other women while in that relationship, I realised what I almost lost and didn't wander in the slightest. It went on to be my most successful relationship to date, we dated for about 2 years after that.

I don't feel guilty about it, though. The old crush was ten times the woman that the girlfriend was.

You seem to have forgotten that women are cheating just as much as men - that’s who men cheat with!

I've got about the same background as Ace in this respect. I also like how people say how wrong it is (it is, no doubt), and how they could never live with themselves afterwards. I was the same way, but now it's more difficult to stay faithful. I guess it's easier the 2nd time around. I'm keeping it together. If I can make it through 2 months at sea with no action but Rosie, I think I might just make it. I'd like to stay with this one.

One of best friends came clean to me about 5 years ago, that he had been having an affair for two years. It was really f*cked up, since I knew his wife and two kids really well. Turns out, the only reason he came out was because he got caught.

It wasn't just that he was lying to his wife, he was lying to his whole family, kids and all. Everything they thought about their dad turned instantly into complete bullsh*t.

He moved out of the house, and in with the hobag, who was also cheating, on her husband, and also had kids.

I'm a one-woman kinda guy and definitely think monogamy is the way to go. I was cheated on by my ex-wife, so I know how it feels to be on that end. I'll never do it.
