This storm is crazy!!!!!!

Well the snow hit the fan here in Michigan about 1 a.m. in my part of the big glove and it was odd!!!

First the wind picked up and little to nothing, then BANG!! white out. We were told that all the office people should not show up today to work so that was a good thing. Not sure of the exact amount because its still snowing pretty steady out. some said 8-10 with an additional 3 more throughout the day. But the kicker is that the drifting is insane. i had the driveway plowed out and the plow guy said he jumped out to do (salt) our sidewalk and said there are drifts about 3-4 feet across some roads. Its light fluffier snow so not a huge deal but he said thats a double edged sword because this is the stuff that gets compressed into ice...

anyone else out there live in Michigan (or anywhere else)that has had some crazy weather?

They're being hit by a Cyclone [ Our Hurricane ] in Queensland Down Under currently. It's been all over our TV all night. They're saying it's bigger than Hurricane Katrina with expected winds of 300 Kms an hour [ 186 MPH ] we'll see the results in the morning. The live reports are amazing.

Ditto. Here in Essex county NJ, I spent over seven hours today breaking ice that was over a quarter inch thick on the cars and more on the ground. I mean the whole car, every square inch from the roof down to the tires, covered in ice. It took close to two hours to de-ice my wife's car (no garage) and then the rest of the day to break up the ice on my walkways and half the driveway. The kicker is that I STILL need to get my own car out. I'm saving that for tomorrow. I'm nearly fifty with no snow blower (not that one of them would do any good in this) and felt my heart racing like a hemi quite a few times today. I took breaks, but the grand total is seven hours of chopping and shoveling. And another one is coming Friday into Saturday.

Illinois has been covered pretty good. Reports of 5 ft tall snow drifts on some of the roads around here. Mostly corn fields so there is nothing really to stop the wind. Took 2 hours to shovel out the drive way. It was up to my knees near the garage because of it blowing around.

They shut down everything last night and closed all of the roads. Couldn't go anywhere if I wanted too.

It's moments like these I'm so glad I moved to the desert....
