    Default Jackson DKMG jack replacement

My jacks been cutting out on my dkmg and I pulled it out and its a different style jack with 2 black wires and a green instead of a black and white. Are these stock jacks cheap and should I install a switchcraft? If so, how do I wire it?

are you sure its not your cable? Do you have Emg's in it? Swichcraft makes very good stuff its worth the extra bit of money IMO

My cable's a fairly new high quality one and my other guitars didn't cut out. My guitar came with the passive emgs and the boost. I have passive seymours in there now. Why is there 3 output wires? Is that to do with the boost? How do I install the 2 wire switchcraft?

If it came with the boost, then it came with a stereo jack to activate the battery when you plug in the cable, just as with active EMGs. You have Hot, Power, and Ground.

You can replace it with a 2-wire switchcraft - the ground lug is the one directly connected to the inner ring where the sleeve of the plug comes through. The hot lug is connected to the prong that touches the tip of the plug.

I forgot about the battery........Is there a three wire switchcraft that would fit so I can keep the active boost?

When did you last replace the battery?

If the Boost PCB is connected in series relative to the other controls, failing power kills the entire guitar not just the boost function.

At the jack socket, the two black cables are the ground connections for the system and the battery clip, respectively. The light green cable is the hot/output from the Booster PCB.

    Signal - Battery - System
    Tip - Ring - Sleeve

I would assume 1 & 3 are making your battery connections
as both would make contact on a mono guitar cable

Correct. The barrel of the jack plug completes the path from the battery negative cable to ground.
