Vintage Greco MIJ Les Paul help...

Ok...so I came across a sweet 1977 Greco LP Std. One piece body, set 3 piece neck (maple?), great burst finish with a nice subtle flame. It's all original and played/sounded better that 99% of the Les Pauls that I've ever picked up (I've owned at least 10 myself). Any thoughts on the value? Any Greco love out there?

Greco is one of the Japanese domestic market names used by the Fuji Gen Gakki factory. You probably associate the factory name with Ibanez.

I cannot help noticing that the grain in the back of the body looks far more like Swamp Ash than any variety of Mahogany. Nevertheless, I have only one question to put to you.

Why haven't you bought that guitar yet?

Good chance it is alder but still should be a pretty good guitar.

$995 would get you a nice used Orville by Gibson LPC, or even a new Edwards LPC. Used Grecos tend to be in the $500-$600 range.
