Narrowed it down to PATB... which one?

People keep telling me to get a PATB for this guitar over and over, so I feel like I have to! I'm leaning towards the PATB-1, because I think it would suit my maple neck-through better (more mids). However, I read a review that the PATB-1 has more piercing highs than the PATB-3, which I definitely want to avoid. What I need is a good comparison of the two from someone who has ACTUALLY USED both in the same guitar. I'm looking for a fat, smooth, particularly full tone with a decently tight bottom end. It can be a little loose, but no mush. NO HARSHNESS; this is the biggest gripe that I've had with most pickups in this guitar.

If you're willing to spend the dough, the "Crazy 8" sounds pretty awesome. It would seem to fit your tonal needs pretty well. A8's are round on top, not at all harsh and tight on the bottom. I think the mid output depends on the wind and 13k isn't super hot. You'll get fat and my experience (hybrid) with one, yields a very fat and balanced clean tone. The only complaints I can see, is that the A8 is a "hard-hitting" magnet, being that is has a high gauss strength.

the PATB-1 is a lot like a JB but but has a sweeter top end and tighter bass
the PATB-2 is a like the distortion model but the top end
the PATB-3 is a hot rod paf with a very balanced eq
for what you need i would go PATB-1

Ok I got a vote for the PATB-1 and another for the Crazy 8. I like the idea of a PATB-1 because I could always go thicker with an A8. A Crazy 8 would be hard to beef up from a stock A8. Thanks guys!

I would still like to try the PATB-1. But the 4 mids kinda scared me.
