Default Marshall effects loop and tone controls using a pod?

On my Jubilee, when i run my POD into the return only and use the Marshall as a "power amp", I have full use of the tone and presence controls. Is this normal? I read that this was a "mod" done to marshall amps. I had a 4203 artist and a 5275 combo that did not work this way. Im curious if my Jubilee was modded. It seems to have all sorts of quirky but good things done to it and it screams. thanks

i dont think most marshalls are like that, none of the jcm 800s that i have had worked that way but the jubilee's might be different
