It's unlikely police would do anything more than what the OP already did. If they do anything at all.

The OP is not the injured party, so no charges could be filed on the call. We all know they can't enter the premises without a warrant. They cannot investigate. Dead end.

crusty, I didn't imply or mean renters were scum. I have lived in this neighborhood for years and I noticed 10 years ago there was maybe 1 or 2 rental properties and they were houses that they turned into duplexes which lowered the property value of the adjacent homes and it also brought in trashy tenants. I am just saying the person doing that duplex from a single family home must have opened the flood gates as there are many more rental homes now seemingly after the housing bubble crash. That said I can safely say that yes the neighborhood went to crap after this and crime has shot through the roof.

Where is the honor for whistleblowing and doing the civil duty of standing up for what is right, instead of looking the other way when someone lies, cheats or steals, which some people in this thread are suggesting?

well, i am no buddhist monk, but my take is that you are suffering in your mind becuase of the thoughts you choose to have as you perceive the siutaion around you ... you seem to describe that you feel anger and vengeance and you go so far as to wish suffering on him ... i might be wrong, but my assumption is taht you hold no compassion whatsoever for him ...

well, who is suffering? ... you (and likely him too, but not in the way you wish it for him, i dont think)

that, as i understand it, is a good bit of what kharma can be .... you are dwelling on the negative and attracting more of it to you ... the suffering that you wish for him has already happened to you and will continue as long as you engage the cycle

and yes, no doubt he is already suffering if he is as you describe him - people at peace do not live like the way you describe he lives ... and yes, without changes to his ways, he will continue to suffer ... punishment enough, wouldnt you say?

and yes, what he is doing is wrong and should be punished ... you tried ... that was noble enough, i suppose, to stand up for what is right ... but making it your focus of obsession is only making things worse for you

It went out the window when you posted about making up lies to tell the authorities. That kind of put you into the same boat as the dude stealing electricity.

Think of it this way, Who would you rather hang out with? A guy who steals electricity or a guy who calls the cops and lies on his neighbors?

Here's hoping either the owner himself decides to live there for a while or the person he rents to does an actual backround check and doesn't find some other seedy character.

It wasn't lies about what the guy was doing, it was embellishing the story a little a) to protect my identity so they didn't know it was the neighbor (I told them I just lived in the neighborhood and was walking my dog which I don't own and saw the neighbor tampering and removing the meter) and b) so they would take this call(s) seriously and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Actually I'd rather hang out with the honorable guy that reports crime not the mother forking criminal scumbag POS. Is that clear enough?

I have no idea who the owner is. I remember seeing the person that bought the property over 2 years ago onve the house was sold. They were there for a couple of weeks doing minimal yard work and maybe interior work like paint. Within a month and a half the turd burglar neighbor was there. Haven't seen the owner since and I don't think the owner ever comes by as I doubt they'd be cool with piles of trash on the side of the house, and by piles of trash, I mean dirty diapers, food, and this guy doesn't buy trash bags he just dumps the trash in the can and doesn't even bother to put a lid on either, like I said a total POS.

You're leaving alot of what you did out.

Actually I remember you saying that you made multiple calls. When they didn't do anything about you reporting that he was stealing electricity, you said you started making calls and telling the authorities that he was "giving classes" on how to steal electricity and tamper with meters to other neighbors.

You can call that "embellishing the truth" but I call it out and out lying. In a nutshell, you acused the guy of FELONIOUS CONSPIRICY TO DEFRAUD, which was something you admitted he was not actually doing.

You deleted the other thread and now you're just trying to save face, but I do remember you posting about telling the authorities he was doing alot more than what he was actually doing.

You can get buyer and seller listing of any home by Googling the address. From there you may be able to get a mailing address and or phone number from your municipality. I am sure there has to be some sort of licensing and public record if they are renting the property out.

The owner is really the party who has the most to lose in this, and is probably the only person a utility or police department will listen to.

Lucid, actually he DID have 3-4 of his "buddies" over late in the afternoon as he was boasting of his work showing it off with pride. No lieing at all actually. I embellished on the number of people and the seminar angle but still not much different than what actually happened as his "buddies" all look like low life scumbags just like him and I wouldn't doubt they are also scamming the system.

Bottomline is FPL apparently doesn't care about fraud even when honest citizens report people trying to rip them off.

As crazy as it sounds here is an analogy to make sense of this. Say you live in a wealthy neighborhood and you witness suspicious activity and a possible burglary. You continue driving and low and behold you notice that neighbors car approaching so you slow down and roll down the window and tell them you think someone may be trying to break into their home and they just rudely say, F-U, why don't you mind your own business?" That to me is how I view FPL as they have been given notice 5 times and nothing has been done for over a month even while they say it is under investigation.

In life, you have to now when to cut your losses. When you have control over a situation, and when you don't. Sure, FPL will pass on the loss to everyone else, but in the end, it's not something you will ever notice as a spike on your bill. This power company probably services hundred of thousands of customers. Is .0001 of a cent worth losing any sleep over?

    Know when to say when.

It's alot different. The seminar angle was accusing him of felony conspiracy.

Think about it this way. Let's say you start a fight at the park. You beat 2 guys senseless. There was a kid present during the fight. I see the whole thing and want you to be punished. I don't think the law will take it serious enough so I testify that you beat the 2 guys and molested the kid too after you were done.

See the problem with that type of thinking?

When I spoke to FPL, I said to the guy, "you should get someone down here ASAP as I "think" this guy may be doing a seminar as he has a group of people there he is showing how he removed and disabled the meter while providing power back to the house".

Lucid, totally different scenario. You are making up a crime that never occured with the hypothetical child molestation. My telling of the guy showing a group of his buddies of his accomplishments as him possibly hosting a how-to seminar on how to get free electricity wasn't anything different than what actually happened.

You did what you could. You did your part. You're bordering on vigilantism.

On the other hand, you're only reporting what you perceive. You have no idea if he was actually stealing electricity as when power is shut off, it's usually done at the pole. Your continued calls could be construed as harassment if what you believe to be reality is not.
