Default How can i fix this?

And what would be the cause in the first place? -->I have a 59' that went hybrid for a while and now I switched it back to a good ol' regular 59'. The problem is that it hums, like a single coil. It's as if it isn't hum canceling anymore or something. I checked to confirm that both coils are on in series, I made sure to re-solder the coils correctly(I've done it before) and it is grounded. It reads 7.15k on my meter, so what gives? It sounds phenomenal in the neck position with an RC A5, it's just this buzz/hum thing that I can't figure out. Maybe I might of pulled on one of those wires coming from the wind a bit hard?

From the descrription given, it sounds as it's not grounded.

I thought this too, but there is less noise when I touch the bridge, strings, knobs, etc. Btw, good morning, what time is it over in Milano?

if there is less noise when you touch any metal, the problem IS grounding. check all you're grounding joints.

Probably a grounding issue. You say it reads 7.15k. It would be interesting to test each coil separately.

I have forgotten to ground the plate before, so check that...

I'm guessing that you accidentally reversed the internal connection to either coil. In other words, you got black and white, or red and green reversed on the coils. To do a simple test, simply reverse either pair. That is, use black for hot, red for ground, and short white and green together. If that solves the problem, then do this test: (or do this test to start with)

Connect a meter to black and white using the red meter lead to black and the black meter lead to white. Make sure you get around half your total ohms measurement. Now switch to the lowest DC volts setting. Bring a screwdriver up against the stud poles gently. (Don't "whack" the pole pieces.) Then yank the screwdriver away. You should get a positive voltage spike as you approach the poles, and a negative spike as you pull away. If its opposite, thats the coil thats backwards.

If its ok, then do the same with the red/green wires, connecting the red meter lead to the red wire and the black meter lead to the green wire. Now do the screwdriver thing to the screw coil. You should still get positive as you approach and negative as you pull away. If not, that's the coil thats backwards.

Edit: Here's my webpage that goes into a little more detail. It was intended for a different thing, but it works just the same.

Cool, thank you. Only thing is that it's a two conductor(old skool). I'll check this out when I get home.
