Default Gibson Les Paul Studio 60s tribute Color?

I like the gold top and my bud has been trying to get one, but they are not avail anymore.. Possibly, Gibson will be filling the orders, but....

We both kinda like the Honeyburst one and those are more readily avail, but havent seen the lemon one in person and therefore cant decide if he likes it well enough to change his order.

Who likes the Honeyburst ones? For those who have them, would you say they look better in person than the pics? Or are the Gibson site pics pretty accurate?

    Thanks!

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

Lemon burst? I haven't seen one of those. I thought all they made was ebony, white, cherry burst, gold top, and honey burst.

He means Honeyburst and you know it.

I think the Honeyburst is the 2nd nicest color. FWIW, Gibson SWEARS the GTs are shipping in May.

Yeah, Im a tard.. I meant Honeyburst.. Thanks St G! Shipping in May?? Ok.. The local shop here hasnt said any kinda time frame.. Guess he should just hold tight.. I just hate ordering something and being at the mercy of whatever they get. nice when the store has a few and you can pick the best one.. Especially concerns me that perhaps gibson may rush to push these out.

I couldn't agree with you more!! I'm hopefully (if they're still available when I have the money) getting the honeyburst. But I"m a lefty and chances are I won't get a chance to pick one out in person. I've bugged the local GC about getting some, but so far no dice. I'll be in La Crosse, WI in May and I believe Dave's has a couple in stock, so hopefully I can at least get to play one.

I'm scared about ordering one through the mail. It will be my first Gibson, and if I get some soso, or meh, top, I'll be severly devastated.

But, to answer your question. Honeyburst FTW!

No, I didn't know it. I can't keep up with all the models and colors Gibson comes out with now.

makes me wonder if many people will buy these Tribute series guitars and re-finnish them... or even just add more clear Nitro and polish them... a few examples my local store has the factory has burned thru the colour coats on the edges... will not take long for these things to look raw.. but i love the sounds these guitars offer and that is all that matters in the end... i'll be buying one... ok some...

Does this mean a positive thing??

ST G, For years I only bought black guitars or Non wood colored ones.. I dont like heritage cherry , tobacco or any of the trad "woody" looks. Heck, I hated goldtops for years, til I bought a LTD EC400at. bought it for the great deal on a great axe. but learned to love the color.. I hated the color of my faded V, but I LOVED the V. But, Im coming around now on the woody ones. The honeyburst is really, really enticing me...

The honeyburst looks banging, plus it has that pseudo/faux binding

I dunno. Getting irritated. They are telling us that the gold is no longer avail and they are being told there are no more to be made. Forum bro here says he has been told orders will be fulfilled, but maybe that's only for that dealer ?? The shop is suggeting he get another color or get money back. The big ticker is he get his credit card statement and is being charged for it

He's being charged without getting anything? THAT'S BS. I mean, I put down a deposit on one of my preorders, but I knew that up front.

I know you mentioned that he's only got a store CC, so he's stuck with one particular dealer, but it sounds like he's being jerked around.

Here's the email that I got from Gibson on 4/13

"Thanks for writing. Yes, all dealers with orders placed with us will receive these guitars. We are still working on building these. Due to a huge interest in Gibson guitars recently, we have received a tremendous amount of orders, so many items are unfortunately on backorder. We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience. Please stay in touch with your dealer for up to date information regarding your specific order.

    Thank you for the inquiry.

    Best regards,
    Benton Cummings
    Gibson Customer Service
    1-800-4GIBSON "

And here's what Troy at Wildwood got earlier this week:

"Tribute Goldtops should start to ship at some point in May,

Wish I could be more specific but this is as close as we can get at this point!

    Thanks,

    Matt Hallam
    Gibson Musical Instruments"

American Musical has been unable to give me any useful info thus far. They only know that Gibson has already missed two scheduled shipments and are on the verge of missing a third.

That's all the information I've been able to cull, with quite a bit of pestering.

Thanks for the detailed info!! Ifyou don't mind, Ill share it with the dealer..? Yeah, they had to special order it and charged it to his store card. Almost canx the order when he got the bill. Didn't think it would show til after the guitar. I'm gonna take this info and run with it. We'll see. Would be easier if he had a visa. Heck, I can't get any cards cuz spouse has wrecked my credit. What's sad is she has a platinum card. BS. Thanks again
