    Default Mira Loves Phat Cat

This is what brought me to the forums.
    I don't think 1 person recommended a Phat Cat
Is it an SDUGF secret ?
The Phat Cat is the best sounding pick up I have heard in this guitar.
In fact, I may be done with humbuckers.

Here it is post-op, neck position satisfied.
Now I'm just a tad afraid to order another for the bridge position because this mahogany guitar is so damn full of treble.
And my other guitars are all Strats !

Very cool! Ive never used a Phat Cat.. Always been a bucker guy, so I cant or dont think to mention them. I have recently been turned on to P90s so, my eyes are opened!! Glad its working out for you! sounds strange talking about a trebly mahog guitar..
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

our first drummer died in a bizzare gardening accident!

I won't dance in a club like this,
'Cause all the girls are sluts,
And the beer tastes just like piss.

My PC's are bright, thin, and weak in the bridge slot, but that's only with the stock A2 magnets. I've replaced all of them with an A8/A4, A8/A5, and UOA5/UOA5, which kicked up the output, mids, and warmth. Now they sound great. Rich and full.

Since P-90's have two mags, you have a lot of options to dial in the tone you want. Only takes a few minutes to change mags.

I put the guitar away for some time, but now that I have other projects finished, I intend to either get the tone I want out of this guitar or trade it.

I'm still shying away from magnet swaps.

I am happy with the Phat Cat neck, and last night I put in a Seth Lover bridge.
My next step (before magnets ?) is to change the pot , which blueman335 suggested way back in July of '10.

The tone pot is in my hand, it measures 444K ohms.
Funny how they work, on '10' it is at full resistance, but gives you a brighter sound.

I think I am going to order this -

They should offer the Mira with P90s in the first place.

    God, that guitar's sexy.
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

Very nice looking. I'd like to try a Mira someday. Reminds me of the early SG's.

SG (Mira) + P-90 (Phat Cat) = TONE!
