A few comments:
#1 Good for her. Sorry she killed someone, but glad she is here to be sorry.
#2 Fascinating how they KNEW what would happen. That's either horrible reporting, Barnie Fife copping, or both.
#3 She is lucky the .22 did the job. I NEVER recommend that for personal defense. She could have put 8 rounds in him and just pissed him off!
#4 I think there doesn't need to be any investigation. He clearly was holding her up with a deadly weapon - the end. Funds for any therapy she needs/wants come out of the desceased's eastate.

" you tell it like you're barefoot while you wear those hundred dollar shoes. Yeah, you can shuck and jive me all ya want to but, please please please, don't tell me 'bout the blues!"......Buddy Guy

a .22 for self defence is EXTREAMALY foolhardy. I woudn't even try it. A knife or anything would be a better more prudent option.
she got lucky, or else, she did in some poor pathetic POS that was barely any threat more likely..

Dudes, none of can figure out why she had a .22 instead something bigger? I would suggest cost and accessibility. Pawn gun, cheapest they had. My Bryco was 99$, from a gun show.

I don't know why people think a .22LR isn't a real bullet. All you have to do is hit the head or vitals, and it's lights out. It's not a BB gun.
Point blank in the chest probably took out his heart and/or lung. Since she dropped him like a sack of potatoes, I'm sure she hit him right on target.
Good for her. Any gun is better than no gun.

I'll take you out and shoot a rack of ribs in the bones and watch the little .22 pellet bounce right off.
I agree it CAN work. But it also has an extremely small margin for error. 12g, on the other hand, has a large margin for error x9 .32 cal....
I'm sure i can put you down with a cheap pen. I'd rather have a 9mm.

Becasue, I think..I THINK, mind you, that your .22 is going to be extemely ineffective , in theory, against an armed moving maurader, UNKLES and UNTILL it hits a vital poijnt on the body...and in a real life threatening situation, youre not going to want something to sting.. or maybe break and arm, jawbone, puncture an organ or an extremity, and leave your target standing, with a weapon in his han, and extremely mad at you.
A littel chiefs special .38 wont sting! Its waht I have . If it hits the perp, it'll knock the assialant down. Its a punch, a heaveyweght punch,. not a hornet sting.
The assailant will forget everything and anything when hit with a 32/.38 in most places that a .22 might not matter and only his pain will be present in his mind...and thats pretty much no matter where the bullet strikes.

The article doesnt really explain why they claim he was going to rape seems plausible that he was just robbing the place still not a good thing but being all cheery for a civilian killing someone is kinda odd to me. That said I live in a country where its hard to get a gun and the need seems alot less then other countries (you dont really hear about a lot of people getting robbed at knife or gun point, although stabbings definitely occur). Still good she has not been raped or harmed significantly.

I've always figured most people getting shot with a .22 Long Rifle round are going to think they're dying. While that may or may not be true, it's going to get a person's attention in the vast majority of cases. I'm not going to volunteer to take one in a randomly chosen body part.
