The Les Paul Balwin's are pieces of crap that are sold at places like Best Buy. I really wouldn't even consider them a Gibson. The Les Paul Menace was out a few years ago and was sold where other Gibson Les Pauls are sold. A quick Google search should give you all the information you need.

The LP Menace was a limited edition model targetted at a very narrow market sector. I suspect that it would be difficult to sell on except to cheapskates or completist collectors. The absense of an asking price is a bit of a clue. If you are interested, make a low offer.

The Baldwin is a SE Asian copy guitar. Baldwin is a distribution company that has put its name to numerous products over the decades. I was especially amused by the vendor's use of parentheses around the word guitar. Guitar in parentheses is a pretty accurate description of the Baldwin object. Avoid.

Because if you Googled it you'd have better chance of actually getting correct information about the guitars instead of alot of the misinformation and dumbass answers that are given around here.

Lol I'm not really interested, just seeing if you guys had encountered these before. I'm on the lookout for a nice PRS or a Les Paul DC.

I would love to find a menace around. It's not much to look at but I assume they'd be cheap as heck and be a nice guitar to take around on tour and such.

The Menace looks pretty sweet. Are those the pickups that the Zoot Suit had? I wonder how it sounds and plays.

Sorry dudes, but judging by these posts you´ve very obviously both either never played a LP Menace before or you´re just 2 more of the ******bags that love to slag Gibson purely because they´re Gibson without any actual facts backing up their statements.

Until such facts are actually presented, I´ve no choice but to value your opinions of this subject as useless and unfounded. Others probably should, too

The menace was the continuation of Gibson lower price special edition Studio models. The first one was the Gothic series original run, which had the same matted black finish the Menace would later sport. The production chronology is as follows:

    Gothic series mk I
Voodoo series (finish was called 'Juju', swamp ash guitars)
    Menace series
Gothic series mk II (same as 1'st run, but with EMG electronics)
Gothic Morte (e.g. mk III, same specs, but with different headstock decals, no 12th fret inlay or washer around the pickup selector switch)
Vampire Blood Moon (uses the 'Juju' finish and swamp ash wood, but is limited to Explorer model only)

Also noticable is that the Gothic LP was one of the earlier versions of thinned down studioes. at least, far as I know, the Studio models used to be the same thick mahogany slab as the Standards, whereas there's 5 mm or so shaved off on the Gothic and subsequent runs.

And for the record, I do own a LP Gothic, and it sounds and plays better than any of my mates guitars, the possible exception being my buddy's late 90's LP Classic.

I apologize dude. My mistake I thought both guitars were Balwins, which are crappy from experience, I only opened one link. I didn't realize one was a Menace.

Please don't group me in with shreddingdoosh
