my high end hearing is not so good anymore, so i need a neck pickup that will give me that little bit extra on top. most neck pickups sound sorta muffled to me with too much mids.
i am thinking the fender cs 69 might do it.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up
by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot build character
by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people by doing for them,
what they could do for themselves

If you're hearing is going and you want to get a pickup that sounds good to *you*, don't you think it would be too shrill for others listening to you?
BTW: It's kind of ironic to be asking for help with a sig like yours.

no, the surfers are an alnico 5 vintage style strat pup. they are not heavy on the mids, nice chimey highs and bold lows.
the cs 69 will be brighter than the surfer. i much prefer the tone of the surfers though.

the lipstick is bright and has very little mids

how does the surfer compare to the ssl-1? i love the ssl in the middle, but not so much in the neck. still thinking the cs69 might be the one.

If the OP's abilty to hear highs is going I would think a bright p'up would fit the bill.

the surfer and ssl1 are fairly similar, if you dont like the ssl1 you probably wont like the surfer that much more. the cs 69 might be for you, its just not for me

that's what i was thinking. i don't know what it is about mids, but my ears don't need much of them. they just seem to dominate.

Fender 57/62

The CS69 will be your best bet IMO. Less mids and more glass than the 57/62 or the CS54.

just cos you cant hear the treble does not mean the audience cant. Be careful cranking the treble....

SSL 1 and don't look back
try using an after market strat bridge pickup in the neck position...
