    Default how to tell the difference between alnico and ceramic VISUALLY

    i have a bunch of old pickups laying around and i'm wanting to switch out the ceramic magnet in a stock MIM strat humbucker to alnico and use it in my old beater LTD for the time being. how can i visually tell the difference between alinco and ceramic magnets?? or can i?

    Ceramic is darker than alnico, the best way is to use a multimeter as ceramic is nonconductive,so you will not get any reading

    cool thanks. i just bought a couple of A5 magnets off ebay since they're so cheap. lol cheaper than a multimeter. hah i can't find mine.
