HZ's arent so terrible afterall

i had a pull-out pair of EMG's HZ's, and i'm waiting to buy some P rails and cool rails for my strat. so i installed the alnico H-4 in my strat along with my alnico5-swapped MIM singles. it's a pretty hot pickup, but it has a nice tone. i'll make a video tomorrow. remind me. lol

i know the black in brown on white is ugly, but it's not permanent.

Yeah the H4 isn't too bad. I had one in B for a while, its tight/thinness helped balance things tuned that low.

And for the record, I think that tortoise guard looks great on there.

i love the tortoise guard, but i normally have white pickups and knobs on it. it looks awesome that way.

I've tried a handful of EMG-HZ humbuckers and single coils. I actually liked how they sound, but they are pretty expensive.

I had a pair of HZs in my Jackson SLSMG and they sounded terrible IMO. Well... I was using a solid-state 90% of the time... so I got a really tight crunch sound, but when I went to playing on a tube amp, it sounded like the sound was being choked. Way too compressed and tight. I went for a 59/JB combo and haven't looked back.
Anyone looking for a pair of HZs?
