Default Hey Surgeon! In Here, Sir!

I know you're a big Every Time I Die fan. I like them a lot too, though I only own one album and I'm not immensely familiar with their catalogue. I found your comments about how they changed the way you look at guitar playing interesting.

I'd like to learn to play a song or two from them. What songs would you recommend learning to play that aren't too hard to get to grips with and are fun to blast out?
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

I'm no Surgeon () but this is my favorite to play:

    Facebook - My facebook page
    Sundown Audio - My band

Hey Kam! I totally missed that post yesterday (and today)...

Hmmm, there's a lot of good ones to lears that aren't too hard (there's nothing crazy technical about their music anyways, just some weird timings in some places), lemme see.
Don'T forget to tune to drop-D. There are a few "complicated" ones but mostly it's riffing on the low strings.

Here are a few good ones to start with:

-No Son of mine (The big dirty)
    -We're wolf (the big dirty)
-INRIhab (big dirty... amazingly fun to play)
-The Marvelous slut (New junk aesthetic)
-Who invited the russian soldier (new junk)
-Afer a quarter of a revolution (new junk)

Once you get ok with these ones, try those:

    -A gentleman's sport (big dirty)
    -Buffalo Gals (bid dirty)
    -Wanderlust (new junk)
-For the record (new junk) I had a hard time getting this one right but it's doesn't seem that hard once you figure it out
-White smoke (new junk...amazing as well)
    -The sweet life (new junk)..

That should keep you occupied for a while. THere are some good songs on Gutter Phenomenon but I don't enjoy that record as much so I haven't spent much time on it...

    Cheers!

    Awesome! Thanks a lot, dude.

Gutter Phenomenon is actually the album I own. I've always quite enjoyed it but, just judging from the stuff you've posted here, it does seem to have a different feel to this other stuff. I like these songs a lot.

I'm definitely going to set to learning a few of these over the next few days. Thanks again, man. I owe ya a beer.

IMHO, Gutter Phenomenon was a transitional album. They went from the "typical Ferret" hardcore sound to more of a "southern-metal-core" thingy. Gutter had elements of both, kinda stuck in the middle, which makes it sound bleh to me at times. Hot damn is still a very very good album and exemple of their earlier sound while Big Dirty and Junk are amazing in their riff-infused southern style. Check them out, they are both amazing and I am pumped for the new one that's coming in 2012... hope it's not as much of a let down as the new Maylene...

    Cheers amigo!
