Default Yet another split JB question

I have a TB4 in the bridge position of my alder Strat. I have it connected to a 250k volume pot and 250k tone pot. I'm thinking of splitting it to get a single-coil tone when needed in the bridge. How would you describe the sound? Looks like it would be about an 8k single-coil, so I guess it would be a pretty thick single-coil sound, no?

It's a superb single tone mate.
Got exactly that in one of mine.

Sounds amazing split with the mid single too.
I have my JB set pretty low to help balance the volume and it really really sings.

    Same pots as yours.

almost every JB I have it set to split. I use 500k push/pull pots for most of them. have them in bridge and middle positions. I like it.

dont be fooled by the 8k, its not the same wire as a 6.5k strat pup.

i think the split sounds are better with 250k pots vs 500k. very usable

Yeah, like Jeremy said it can be a bit too spiky with a 500k pot, but if you can tame that,
it sounds incredible, it's a really fat single coil sound.

Youre right, pickups like the JB and Distortion split very well indeed. Its not a mod I ever use so I dont do it any more but I have done it in the past and liked the tones particularly from those two pickups.
