Just got it - handmade in the Duncan Custom Shop. I'm going to put it in the bridge position of my Strat. If it sounds as good as this guy's, I'll be very happy! But first, I need to get a new pickguard made.

Why would it be a Custom Shop ?
Nickel PG's are standard production models.

Oh dear, that doesn't say much for your faith in their production staff.
Double the price for what must be an indistingushable difference.
And you state that you hope yours will sound as good as the production one in the clip![]()
Why "must" there be "an indistingushable difference"? And how would you know if you've never compared for yourself?
You get what 'cha pay for. The standard assembly line Duncan's and Duncan PG's are first rate - but the custom shop versions of the PG, wound by MJ or Seymour, do sound one notch better.

If there wasn't a miniscule difference, it wouldn't be the same pickup.
Also that would imply the production line stuff is inferior.
I would put money on the fact that if they took a production one, stuck an MJ sticker on the bottom, you'd be convinced you hear a difference.![]()

I wouldn't want to take your money. But I wouldn't mind seeing you learn a little lesson either Mr. Know It All.![]()

It was refreshing to see Australians abroad, sober. I almost didn't recognise them.

When this forum talks about getting wood, we're usually thinking of flamed maple.

I reckon I might send Lizzie a bill for back rent. The old girl's family have been living in my bloody castle for the last 500 years.

When is the wedding?
