New Strat Bridge

Hi guys (& girls there might be a few) my lad has a mexican fender strat(yes we've swop'd the pups) but here's the problem one of the intonation adjusting screws has thrown it's thread, we found an old strat bridge thats kept him going cheap in a shop odds ends bin (it don't look to good).Ok so for christmas he wants a new bridge. As I'm a Les Paul man (for a LP I would say go for a Tonepro's bridge). I don't Know what would be the best repacement in a strat also would it be best to replace the block as well and whilst we're at it how many springs or do/can we go hard tail. I just want to put in a bridge that will give him the best tone (he dos'nt at this time use the wammy bar as we blocked it off)

Callaham bridges are very good, although they're a bit pricey. You didn't mention if it was a two point or six screw tremolo, but if you're interested, I have an unused Fender American Standard two point tremolo that I listed for sale in the trading post a few days ago.

I'd just go for a Fender '62 Reissue bridge/vibrato. They're about $100. I have them in all of my Strats now. I have compared these with the bridge and block in my original '63 Strat and they look the same, weigh the same and sound the same.

You don't need to spend more than $100.
