    Default JB with ceramic! YESS!

i had to post my findings with this configuration.
just a regular sized ceramic in my JB in the bridge.
what i like most is the low end doesnt accept alot of extra processing, it stays tight under pressure. the JB8 can go from medium rock to extreme death metal the more you add gain and eq changes to add volume. with the JB+ it kinda lets you know right away if your adding too much gain just like the regular custom sh-5, if too much gain was added it would get revealed in the high end fizz. i dont hear the fizz i did with custom, but i dont hear as much low end compared to the custom.
the difference i hear between the JB+ and the JB8 is what they do best.
JB8 likes to bloat out massive sized palm mute articulation, which i love for doing deadly heavy tracks.
this JB+ likes open power chords more and has that slight high end resonance that works perfect for strumming out 2-3 note power chords.
it also has relaxed upper mids, they do not grate like the alnico 8s sometimes do when using alot of trebley marshally type gain.
it doesnt do the palm mutes quite as big but thats ok, im ready for change.

the guitar was slighty out of tune by a few cents here or there, and im tuning to C standard so there loose for getting layers matched up.

Too much noise for me to tell exactly what the pup is doing.

For a pickup demo, I want to hear the pup without the rest of the band/noise. Otherwise it is a band demo, not a pup demo.

    Age doesn't change that, sonny!

In that case, maybe you should listen to the clip again. What would you describe the sound to be at the beginning before the guitar comes in, and continuing throughout the clip. Would you say that it is noise?! It certainly isn't the guitar pup in question. And it certainly couldn't be called music.

I'm not opposed to having various types of noise in a song, hey the Beatles were expert at that.

In any case, in a clip to demo the sound of a pup, it would be nice to hear that pup without anything else going on distracting/covering/confusing that sound.

I paid more attention to the drums than the guitar. They sounded great.

I disagree. Hearing how a pup sounds in a band mix is immensely helpful to a lot of people. There's some who would much prefer to hear all pup demos like that.

Surely we're all aware how different our tones can get when we're playing on our own compared to when we're trying to fit our sound in with a bunch of other instruments...

Anyway. Sounded great, Formula. Friggin' huge.

i like to check out the pickup/guitar alone, and how it sits in a mix where possible; especially when it's the kind of grindage this guy cranks out

this ceramic JB is totally working for you man

Seriously though...what the hell was that random noise at the very beginning?

    Nice tone, regardless.

Hey surface. I would really really like to know how you think this compares to the distortion.
