    Default Xentrix

I've talked about this band with a couple of you guys. They were a thrash band in the late 80s early 90s that never made it very far and ultimately imploded in the mid 90s.

Their first two albums, Shattered Existence and For Whose Advantage?, were released in '89 and '91. I dug Shattered big time but I distribution wasn't that great and I never found their second release. I heard Shattered while rummaging around a record store in the mall around 1990 or so. Like I said I really like these guys. But somewhere along the way I lost my Xentrix tape and into my memory the went exclusively. That is until two days ago...

I've tried a few times over the years to find their records but could only find the later stuff which didn't measure up. Then Tuesday night I went to Amazon for who knows what and what's on the front page? Shattered Existence. In stock. A little high for Amazon at $16 but they had it ready to ship. Luckily they had For Whose Advantage? as well and I grabbed both for $30 and free shipping.

Point being, if you dig these guys but haven't been able to find their albums, head over to Amazon. They got a few in stock.

Just don't get Scourge, that one freakin' sucked.

Hey - did you see Sanctuary is trying to get back together after the fall of nevermore? (I don't think sean blosl will be up for it, he only plays acoustic guitar now and is waaaay into Indian/Eastern culture kinda stuff).

Another band Xentrix turned me onto (from one of them wearing their shirt in the liner notes of For Whose Advantage) was The Beyond. I'm guessing they were buds since they were all from the UK. Crawl was great if you ever find it.

As light-loafered as it sounds, I thought of you while listening to Fates Warning the other day (Perfect Symetry).

I did hear about Sanctuary. They did a few gigs recently in NYC or SF, something. I have high hopes but given Warrell's warbling in Nevermore I'm expecting the worst.

I've given the samples of Scourge a run through a few times and was never much interest. I'll stop after the first two.

Perfect Symmetry is a fantastic album. When I first got that back in 1989 I hated it. I had no idea what I was listening to. Think now it's my favorite Fates album.

I'll go search out The Beyond. Thanks for the tip.

And for what it's worth, Amazon also had bands like Atrophy, Realm, Paradox and Pestilence ready to be shipped too. Roadrunner must be rereleasing a ton of their back catalog.
