    Default Damn You, Bonamassa!

It is really tough to have him as one of your blues idols.

Damn guy outplays every other blues guitarist I've ever heard. and not in a "look how fast I can play" kinda way, but in every other way that is important.

I mean yeah it's cool knowing I have impeccable taste in guitar idols, but dammit, it's friggin difficult to live up to his levels of insane awesomeness.

The crappy part of is that I can hear that he's basically just rippin up the blues scale that I know pretty much inside out, but his PHRASING is mindnumbingly awesome, and his filler notes are barely even filler notes. Even though it goes by blindingly fast, somehow every note is clear and articulated, and totally vital to the mood of the particular phrase he's playing. And when I try to figure out bits which involve filler sections by ear, I totally fail cuz it's going so fast.

damn guy and his amazingness. I'm getting discouraged.

It's surprising he ever got to be so good, what with all that time spent chasing Neo around.

Dunno. To me his play doesn't do anything. Maybe I can't listen as fast as he's playing.

i'm used to listening to retarded shred though, so I can keep up from a listening sense. but just cuz I can listen to it and keep up, that doesn't necessarily mean I can HEAR what he's playing. sometimes it's just a whirlwind of speed and tasty licks.

What's even more sick is besides his other-worldly playing, he's a really nice, down to Earth guy who has 0% rock star attitude, even though he headlines 200 shows a year. Bastard!

If you can pull it off I'll take one of his rejected guitars! I'm borrowing a friends guitar and I'm sans guitar. LOL J/K of course.

Yeah, and on top of that, he CAME UP WITH THIS STUFF. Not only is it almost impossible to play like he does, you're just rehashing what he already put together. Now think of starting with a blank slate. That's where I really get impressed with this stuff.
