it can be used, but you'd have to implement a special switching system and other things (another output jack) since actives need a battery to operate
As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting
I will tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything
Then I treat you like a dog as I shoot my venom in
You pretend you didn't know that I am a scorpion, ya!

You might consider deleting the repeat thread about this.

EMG will tell you that you need special switching, which they sell. However, I have had a couple guitars using an EMG in the bridge and a Duncan neck. Just wire each pickup separately to their own controls, then join them at the EMG stereo input jack and it works fine. I actually had my tech do it, not sure where the battery was connected in all that, but it was all good.
Active and Passive are mixed in the Washburn PTK with no special switching and the battery is activated by the single input jack. http://www.washburn.com/news/reviews/ptk_rev.htm
