It looks just like an EMG. Is it supposed to compete with EMG? How does the sound compare to the EMG-81?

Depending on what you're putting it into, Invader, Full Shred or JB.

The tone that I'm wanting is something that can throw a straight forward metal punch with good bass and good clarity. I'm basically looking for something that competes with the EMG-81.

You do NOT want the live wire metal if you ever play anything less than rip your head off metal. The LW-HMET's clean tone makes an EMG sound like a freakin Seth Lover.

If you want balls out heavy, but still want a useable clean tone, try out the Invader. Of course, the JB & Distortion totally kick ass, too.
Buy the book in my avatar. It's pretty cool.

I've heard that the JB/59 would be the best decision for something like the tone that I want.
