    Default Which would you choose?

I'm stuck in between an Ibanez Saber and a Dean 79' V

Some background on Saber: 22 fret, It says custom made on the fretboard, pretty sure its not actually "Custom" seeing as there is a bunch of other Sabers online that say that. But yeah. Its REALLY REALLY nice. But both guitars feel really good and sound good too. I'm just wondering what you guys would do in this situation. so, The Dean or Ibanez?

I believe the Ibby is a Japanese 540S. How much are they asking for it?

    How much for the Dean?

Ibanez, they want 250. Its beat up a bit though, but it plays nice. The Dean they are asking 500 with a case, it's mint though. like..straight out-the-box mint. I'm gonna trade in my Vox towards the guitar.

That seems a little steep for the V. They sell new all day for $400-$450.

If the Ibby is what I believe it to be, I'd jump on it.

I'd normally lean more towards Dean than Ibanez but in this instance, I go Ibby. There's no arguing about which is likely the better player.

i know that's a pretty heavy statement to make and a bunch of dudes that love Teles and shredsticks are gona argue with me, but they're wrong.
anything you can't do on a Les Paul is because you haven't practiced enough or you don't rock hard enough.

    Those are completely opposite guitars.

The Dean V is huge. The Sabre is tiny.

Thats thing thing too. I like the Dean because it has some weight on it. I feel like the saber is gonna float away sometimes lol.

And about the playing them both and seeing which is better, Both are awesome!

Below are some picture of what the Ibanez pretty much looks like. Only different really is the PG in the bridge(Chrome cover) and it has Shark teeth Inlays. The Headstock just says Ibanez too.

Looking at your existing gear, I'd say the Ibanez. It's a nice compliment to your strat. The Dean is short scale - may not fit your comfort zone.

That Ibanez is a helluva guitar - and with a PG??? Tw-fiddy? Hard to argue there.

But the Dean is a KILLER guitar. I've been Dean V gassing so hard I'm farting constantly. BTMN (thank you!) talked me down off the fence on a Dean V a couple weeks ago. But that was a Micheal Schenker prototype for $200.

Still, I'd RATHER have the Dean. But I'm not going over 400 for that. Probably can get for 300+

Welll thats the thing. I'm not really paying 500 for it. more like. 250-ish. I'm trading in my Vox for 225 towards one of the guitars. So yeah, plus I should be able to talk him down a bit.

I really dont like small and light guitars, especially ones that have thin contoured bodies, so I would get the Dean.

technically, the dean should resonate more, simply because of it's bigger body mass.

Ibanez. The Japanese ones are very well made and, as you've said, it plays great (no surprise). I like a V, I really do, and I have nothing against the Deans in that price range, but I think the V headstock on a V is kind of gilding the lily.
