Not a lot going on.. I hope its a late crowd. This isn't our town, don't know the band who set this up.
Might be one of those nights...

Give it hell jack. In the name of Rawk!
Plus, these are just the kind of nights some big-wig promotor shows up and signs you to a lucrative contract on the spot.
I'm Rich, I'm Beuatiful! <p>
...okay, I'm not rich.

I doubt that heartily, regardless of who is here.
Not a lot of mass appeal for the progressive nerd beer thrash.
But thank you.

So we played. Late crowd, good number of folks showed up. Sold a little merch. Well-received, but I can't remember a time when I've biffed so many times.
People loved it, but im mad at myself for personal suckage. That ever happen to anyone?

Adam....How often do you gig? I've had many nights as you describe....can't always play to the most hospitable crowds.....
I showed up for a gig one night, where through a misunderstanding, we were booked as a swing band. Lets just say it was a LONG, quiet and informative evening.
Your next gig will be gold.

Oh the crowd was mega-receptive. We held the whole room (smallish crowd, maybe 60 people) the whole time and got big applause and cheers after every song. Good crowd. I overheard a few guys in the band that went on next telling our drummer that we were the best band they'd seen play there in a very long time. That's always nice to hear.
One guy I talked to who is a player said he noticed one time where I gave my bass player "the look," like "I have no ****ing idea why I just screwed that up" but he said he couldn't tell what it was I had done or not done that was wrong. I mean, maybe he could and maybe he couldn't, but whatever.
Like I said, it was a great show aside from the one minor detail that I don't feel I lived up to my own personal standard of performance. I let it get in my head a little bit, which I haven't done in a long time.
I attribute it mainly to the fact that we've slowed down on gigging right now with writing new material and dealing with our bass player's work schedule... The next one will be better.![]()

Just look at it like you're at a place in your playing where you're good enough to mess up and not have people really notice. Don't worry, be happy.
Copying and putting your spin on it - that's how music evolves
Last night my mind went black right in the middle of a lead break. Played it fine the night before. Just kept going with the same riff and then it came to me went from there. Still flubbed up a few other spots. It happens.
cool that ur gigging with ur original music at least!

playing in a different town always frustrates me, no matter the turn out. If they pack it out, I think of the lazy bastards in my home town that always flake out on attendance. If it is dead, I'm further reminded that people suck when it comes to attending live music. *****es spend $60 on a tshirt but cant spring $5 on admission to a local concert...

Yeah man!!! Rawk!!
