Default Frank Lee Needs to Know: Favorite 1982ish Live Album Featuring Member(s) of Sabbath

    Frank Lee remembers. Do you?

"Tribute" was apparently going to come out in 1982. "Live Evil" and "Speak of the Devil" came out in 1982. Of course, "Speak" would not have existed if "Tribute" (which would not have been a tribute) came out in 1982.

Most, if not all, of the above were a response to "Live and Last." Same is a pretty good album, IFLHO. But that is not the point.

Frank Lee was not aware that people liked "Speak of the Devil," but a recent thread here made Him realize that people do. Always looking for something new, Frank Lee plans to check it out. Perhaps Mr. Lee's prior reasoning for eschewing "SotD" is the same reason people refuse to listen to post-Schenker UFO. He likes post-Schenker UFO. Or at least some post-Schenker UFO.

Old folks, feel free to share anecdotes about these albums. Frank Lee will when He is good and ready to share His thoughts.

    Thank you.

Speak of the Devil is my favorite live album of all time. I still listen to it all of the time. It's always in constant rotation.

I dont actually think Tribute is all that great, shoot me. It sounds like Randys playing out of tune some of the time.

    No, thank YOU.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Tribute but, Speak Of The Devil is one of the best ever.

I don't think I've listened to Tribute in at least 20 years, probably more.

Again, HRHFFL was not aware that people really loved SOTD. FL will attempt to find same.

I've always liked 'Live Evil', so that is how I voted.

Frank Lee digs "Born Again" very much, despite its issues. He remembers purchasing the album on the day it was released and enjoyed the show He saw also.

    Thank you.

The story goes Randy was gonna do the live album of Sabbath covers, he refused to do it at first but was finally talked into it. He was also supposed to do that and one more studio album and tour with Ozzy then split from the band. That all came out of Rudy Sarzos book , if all that is true and Randy had lived I'd be willing to bet there would have never have been an official Ozzy/Randy live release. The Osbournes try to make sure ex band members make as little money as possible off the work they did with Ozzy.

It sounds like much of Ozzy's vocals are either re-done or doubled on Speak of the Devil- I wonder how much of the guitar was re-done too. Massive tone on that one, as well.

I LOVED Randy's playing but was not much for the Ozman at that point. That is why I went with Live Evil. Ronnie IS THE MAN!!

Gamera loves Born Again. Probably because Ian Gillian can do no wrong in my ears.

Gamera never cared much for Tribute

Gamera was always a fan of Live Evil. I even had the T-shirt. Actually it was a jersey.

    Gamera has never heard SOTD.

Gamera remembers 1982 very, very, very well. A great year for Gamera.

Gamera does not like talking about himself in the third person.

    Thank you.

Gamera always had a thing for Elaine. Gamera's friend's girlfriend looked like Elaine. They broke up and she made a pass at Gamera. Gamera was too drunk and tired to notice until years later when he was recalling the event. Gamera was pissed.
