    Default MIK Hamer Guitars?

Are Hamer Explorers made in Korea around the year 2000 any good?
I'm spying a used one for sale that's got me GASing...

It has Duncan-designed pups, and a red flametop with binding. $300

    Hit it or pass?

Not a bad price. Got the case? Usually good build as far as Korean mades go. I have had 2 of those in the past. They like Duncan USA pickups!
Aint no pro but I know what I like....

Yes, a Hamer hard case is included.
BTW, I'd change the pups if I got it.

If you like it, well worth getting.

Here is one of the ones I had with a Korean made Dean Z ...

    Thread hijack:

Since you are talking about import Hamers, can anyone give an opinion on the new MIK Hamers.

A local store is going to sell the MIK Hamers. How do the MIK Hamers workmanship and materials compare with other MIK guitars as the PRS SE line or the Hagstrom Swedes?

    Thanks in advance.

This probably goes without saying, but do listen to the pups before you change them. I have a pair of Duncan Designed that are killer.

Nice, replies from BTMN and ArtieToo. If its still for sale tomorrow, I'm on it.

I'll definitely work with the stock pups, otherwise all I have on hand currently are Blackouts.

Here is that same guitar in a lil better light. It came with USA Duncans and Schaller tuners added.

When you change the strings the first time, take out the pickup ring screws and lift out the pickups gently. Write down the code number underneath and then check Duncan's product page to see which DD pickups are in your new guitar you get today.

I have a couple MIK Echotones and a SATF (DC LP). The quality on all of them is very good.

    Blueman, thanks for your opinion.

If the store gets any in stock, [he does most of his business as a mail order store] I'll give them a try.
