He was a drummer, a dedicated musician and a good friend of all guitar players and tone lovers. I am not a Marshall type guy, but I highly respect what he did to me, to my ears through out the years ! Although I hear less than I should , it was worth it!
Cheers to you Mr. Marshall!!! You will never be forgotten!

RIP, a guy as famous as any guitar player despite the fact I dont even know if he was a musician.
I love my Marshall, and its only a cheap one, but everyone playing rock or metal NEEDS a Marshall. Nothing more needs to be said.

    Goodbye 'Father of Loud'

You're probably the only person who's signature I've seen more than my own.

In the early 90's I had the gig as Australia's Marshall clinician, for the release of the JCM900 series. Jim came out for a clinic tour I did with the brilliant English guitarist Geoff Whitehorn, who was playing with Bad Company at the time. Such a gentleman, loved his work, and brought a great vibe with him. Rest easy.

You know, I've been to NAMM four times, I think. Every single time I went to a NAMM show, there were more people waiting in line to get his autograph than anyone else. That says alot.

Other than Leo Fender, there is no one on Earth who had a bigger impact on the tone of the electric guitar than Jim Marshall. He literally invented the rock guitar sound. Everyone else who came after him just fine tuned it.

    RIP

Just when I was getting into Marshalls too (yeah, I'm decades late to the fold). The tribute programs should be stellar for the man though.

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

    This is sad news.

Goodbye Jim! It was great to meet you at NAMM.

someone needs to do a solo "amazing grace" melody with a wall of marshalls in the background. i would do it right now if i had a real marshall.
