But why don't guitars have a 3-band EQ like some higher quality basses?
I'm not a wiring wizard so I'm sure it's probably an obvious answer for a bunch of you but I just think it would be really cool to have.

I think it is mainly tradition/habit combined with lack of demand. It can be done, passive or active. (To do it passively, you make a series of band reject filters.) I'm trying to come up with a two band E.Q. for a Strat at the moment. I want the two bands to be high mids and highs.
