I am torn between phase and series.
I like them both.

series is pretty awesome...
series and out of phase is really cool, but that takes two switches.

My coil-swap mod can be pretty cool too. It puts the screw coil of the neck with the stud coil of the bridge, and vice-versa.

Coil tap would be cool.

With passive electronics, you cannot add something that is not there. All a passive "goodness" control is is a "suck bleed" control. So you cannot make yourself better on an absolute level. You can just make yourself less bad by bleeding of some suckage to ground, which makes you seem better on a relative level.

Chris, according to Itsabass's logic, I guess you need an active/passive goodness control, so that suckage bleeds off to ground, and goodness goes to the amp. Gives you more of what you have, and less of what you don't want.

I like your thinking, but anyway, I've derailed this thread long enough now.
I'd go for an option that thickens up a standard humbucker sound. Kind of like what my PRS 513 does on its second selector when it's pushed fully back. I'm not too sure what that option is, especially as they're not really humbuckers on the anyway.

coil cut is all i need in a two hummer axe

Series/parallel. that way you can get decent cleans out of a mid/high gain pup in the neck.
